Kabul, 15 September 2021 (TDI): Mansoor Ahmad Khan, Ambassador of Pakistan to Afghanistan, met with Filippo Grandi, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
Both parties discussed the mass movement of refugees from Afghanistan to different parts of the world. Their agenda was to focus on the prevention of any casualty during refugee movements. The UN High Commissioner shed light on ways to manage people and their needs.
Up to 500,000 Afghans may migrate by the end of the year, according to the UN. They have urged neighboring nations to maintain their borders open. The current issue adds to the 2.2 million Afghan refugees already living in neighboring countries. And the 3.5 million Afghans were compelled to evacuate their homes within the country’s borders.
