Lahore, 1 December 2022 (TDI): Pakistan defeated Iran, the former champion, 3-1 in the championship match of the Central Asian Volleyball Championship in Lahore.
It is pertinent to note that, after a hiatus of 17 years, the 5-nation championship was held for the first time in Pakistan. Teams from Iran, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan participated in the championship.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the Pakistan Men’s Volleyball Team for winning the Central Asian Volleyball Championship. He lauded their grit, determination, and hard work.
Volleyball in Pakistan
In international volleyball competitions, Pakistan is represented by the men’s national volleyball team. The Pakistan Volleyball Federation was established on January 31, 1955.

After that, volleyball became popular on a national scale. In the same year, the Federation was recognized and granted membership in both the International Volleyball Federation and the Pakistan Olympic Association.
Pakistan had the honor of taking home a bronze medal from the 1962 Asian Games in Jakarta, which featured outdoor sporting events.
