Islamabad, 3 March 2022 (TDI): The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Islamabad today. This is his two-day maiden visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Upon arrival, the Uzbek President was received by Imran Khan at the Noor Khan Airbase, Chaklala, Rawalpindi. During his visit, a list of MoUs have been signed between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

These include the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Joint Declaration: ‘Next Step in the Strategic Partnership’ signed by Prime Minister Pakistan and the President of Uzbekistan.

Agreement on Cooperation in the field of Television and Radio Broadcasting has been signed between the National Television and Radio Company of Uzbekistan and the Pakistan Television Corporation.

The MoU has been signed by Fawad Ahmed, the Minister of Information of Pakistan, and Ozodbek Nazabekov, the Minister for Culture of Uzbekistan.

An MoU has also been signed between the Ministry of Tourism & Sport of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony of Pakistan for the Promotion of Pilgrimage Tourism.

The agreement has been signed between Noor ul Haq Qadri, the Minister for Religious Affairs of Pakistan, and Abdulaziz Kamilov, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

In addition, an MoU has been signed between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan pertaining to Cooperation in the Field of Environment and Climate Change.

This agreement was signed by Malik Amin Aslam, by the SAPM of Pakistan on Climate Change, and Sardar Umurzakov, the Deputy Prime Minister & Minister for Investment & Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.

A Preferential Trade Agreement has been signed between Abdul Razaq Dawood, Advisor Commerce, and Sardar Umurzakov, Deputy Prime Minister & Minister for Investment & Foreign Trade.

Likewise, an Action Plan of practical measures (Roadmap) to further boost cooperation between Pakistan and Uzbekistan in the fields of Security has been signed by Dr. Moeed Yousaf, the National Security Advisor of Pakistan, and Viktor Makhmudov, Secretary to the Security Council of Uzbekistan.

Ministry of Railways of Pakistan and the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan also signed an MoU. Habib ur Rehman Gilani, the Secretary / Chairman of Pakistan Railways, and Ilkhom Makhkamov, Minister for Transport of Uzbekistan represented their respective countries.

Furthermore, an MoU on Cooperation between Khokimiyat of Tashkent City of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Administration of Islamabad City of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has been signed by Hamza Shafqat, the Administrator MCI, and Oybek Usmanov, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan.

Lastly, an MoU on Cooperation between the Surkhandarya Region of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan has been signed between Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Secretary Industries Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Oybek Usmanov, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan.
