Pakistan, US to extend business ties

Washington DC, 17 December 2022 (TDI): The Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States (US), Masood Khan hosted Donald Blome, US Ambassador to Pakistan. The meeting took place in the Pakistan House in Washington DC.

Both envoys discussed the prospects of the growing relationship between Pakistan and the US. They also discussed increasing business engagement between both countries.

Masood Khan lauded the US community for mobilizing support for Pakistan’s rescue and relief operations in flood-hit areas. He also appreciated the support provided to Pakistan during COVID times.

In this vein, Masood Khan reiterated, “Support for flood relief from the American government, Congress, civil society, private sector, and philanthropic entities has been massive.”

“Pakistan & US relations, for the past 75 years, had demonstrated great resilience and longevity. The two countries had prosecuted wars together and had been fellow peacekeepers.” The Envoy continued.

Masood Khan stressed that both countries have a bright future ahead. He added we will continue to collaborate to enhance security in our region and beyond.

He also appreciated the efforts of Ambassador Donald Blome for cementing the multifaceted Pak-US partnership.

At his turn, Ambassador Blome thanked Masood Khan for his hospitality and affirmed his support for the betterment of Pakistan. He also mentioned American-supported Green Revolution in Pakistan.

Along these lines, he added, “The initiative would provide an umbrella for cooperation to develop weather-resistant hybrid seeds and promote linkages between both countries.”

Meeting with US business community

Masood khan also hosted US business leaders & invited them to participate in International Maritime Exhibition and Conference being hosted by Pakistan in February.

The leaders were apprised of the opportunities and potential that the event will bring to the business community. They were also briefed about the procedure for participation.

Notably, the Pakistan Navy, under the patronage of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, is conducting Pakistan International Maritime Expo & Conference (PIMEC). It will be held from 10-12 February 2023 in Karachi, Pakistan.

The event would be a marketplace for sharing innovative ideas about maritime potential and opportunities in Pakistan’s rich maritime field.
