Pakistan urges Afghan Government’s swift action against terrorism

Islamabad, 29 November 2023 (TDI): In response to the recent heinous attack on a security forces convoy in the Bannu district on November 26th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan summoned a representative from the Afghan Embassy in Islamabad.

Strongly condemning the cowardly act perpetrated by an Afghan national, Pakistan demanded immediate and verifiable actions against all terrorist groups and their safe havens.

The suicide attack, orchestrated by an Afghan national affiliated with Hafiz Gul Bahadur, resulted in the tragic loss of two civilians’ lives and left several others injured.

The perpetrator, identified as an Afghan citizen, was linked to Hafiz Gul Bahadur, the leader of a Pakistani Taliban faction based in North Waziristan, as confirmed by law enforcement agencies.

During the meeting, Pakistan urged the Afghan interim government to take swift and concrete measures against terrorism, emphasizing the importance of apprehending Hafiz Gul Bahadar and handing him over to Pakistan.

Furthermore, it was stressed that Afghanistan must ensure its soil is not used as a platform for terrorist activities against Pakistan.

This diplomatic engagement occurs concurrently with Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to deport illegal Afghan citizens, underscoring the nation’s commitment to safeguarding its borders and ensuring national security.
