Pakistan Showcases IT Growth at US Tech Conference

Washington (TDI): Pakistan showcased its growing digital economy and investment appeal on Thursday as the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington hosted the final session of the Pakistan-US Tech Investment Conference 2025.

The event, following earlier successful forums in Dallas and New York City, brought together IT executives, entrepreneurs, business leaders, and investors to explore new opportunities in Pakistan’s burgeoning tech sector.

The conference was the result of a broad collaboration between the Embassy, the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), operating under the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, the Ministry of Commerce, P@SHA (Pakistan Software Houses Association), and OPEN Global, a network of Pakistani entrepreneurs based around the world.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh welcomed attendees and emphasized that Pakistan is only beginning to showcase its full potential in the tech arena.

“Pakistan’s IT sector is on the rise, and our country’s unique geographic and economic position gives us an edge. Over the past 78 years, we have overcome numerous challenges, and now our focus is firmly on the future,” he said.

The ambassador pointed to the nation’s youthful demographics, with 65% of the population under the age of 30, as a major advantage, calling for deeper collaboration between Pakistani and American tech sectors.

He called on US investors to support Pakistan’s startup ecosystem through mentorship, advisory services, and funding.

“Our youth are full of hope and ideas. What they need is guidance, partnerships, and the right financial channels to scale their solutions into commercially viable products,” he said.

Key leaders from Pakistan’s tech ecosystem, including Abu Bakar, CEO of PSEB; Sajjad Syed, Chairman of P@SHA; Tariq Khan, President of OPEN Global; and Naveed Shirwani also addressed the gathering.

They praised the Embassy’s efforts and acknowledged the instrumental role of Pakistan’s consulates in New York and Houston in facilitating the conference series.
