Islamabad, 10 June 2022 (TDI): Foreign Ministry of Pakistan responded to the Indian MEA Spokesperson’s remarks pertaining to the Karachi incident.

The Foreign Ministry quickly issued a press release in which Pakistan rejects the Indian MEA Spokesperson’s remarks regarding the unfortunate incident taking place at a Hindu temple in Karachi.

As per the reports, a temple and a priest’s house were attacked in the city of Karachi on Wednesday night by a mob. Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Spokesperson, Arindam Bagchi, while addressing a press conference on Thursday evening gave remarks.

He said “we have noted the recent incident of vandalization of a Hindu temple in Karachi. We believe this is another act of systematic persecution of religious minorities. We have conveyed our protest to the government of Pakistan.”

In a statement, Pakistan Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson, Asim Iftikhar, said unlike the violence against the Muslim community that is orchestrated by religious fanatics who enjoy full patronage of India’s state machinery, Pakistan takes action against such issues.

Action is being taken against the perpetrators of the incident. Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson further said that an FIR has already been registered against the assailants and efforts are underway to identify and arrest them.

In the statement, Foreign Ministry elaborated on the issue and stated’ Government of India would be well advised to introspect and ensure the protection of fundamental rights, lives, and places of worship of minorities across India.

Particularly Muslims who are facing brutal attacks from the proponents of ‘Hindutva’ holding on to the reins of the power in the country.

The statement further conveyed that unequivocal condemnation by the BJP leadership and the Indian government, as well as the decisive and demonstrable actions against the BJP officials for making sacrilegious remarks recently, would be the first step towards healing the suffering of Muslims in India and sentiments of Muslims worldwide.
