Islamabad, 2 August 2021 (TDI): The cargo of 1.5 million doses of CanSino vaccine arrived in Pakistan from its neighbor China, on August 2, 2021, Monday. Islamabad has purchased these COVID-19 vaccines from companies of China, which will help Pakistan to defeat the fourth wave of the COVID-19.
During the fourth wave, there were more than 5000 cases of COVID-19 recorded on August 1, 2021, with the highest cases in Sindh Province followed by Punjab. As per the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), confirmed cases of COVID-9 patients in Pakistan recorded are 1,039,695, of which 4,858 were recorded in the last 24 hours; total deaths all over the country are 23, 462, among which 40 were seen in past 24 hours.
Despite this challenging situation, the COVID-19 tests and vaccine doses continued. The total Corona tests conducted up till now are 16, 108, 53 in number, and 56,414 of them were conducted in the past 24 hours. A milestone has been achieved by Pakistan as total doses administered in the country are 30,590,83 and in the last 24 hours 934, 608 doses were administered.
The Chairman of the NCOC Asad Umar, who is also the Minister for Planning Development and Special Initiative (Pakistan), said that the vaccine records are being compiled on a regular basis, and Friday, July 31, 2021, was the fifth day in a row when Pakistan administers a record of more than 900,000 vaccine doses in a day. The imported CanSino doses will surely strengthen Pakistan more in dealing with the fourth wave.
