Pakistan, Oklahoma to strengthen economic ties

Oklahoma, 5 December 2022 (TDI): The Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States (US), Masood Khan met with the Governor of Oklahoma, John Kevin Stitt during his visit to Oklahoma.

Both Envoys discussed the promotion of bilateral relations, especially the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the economic sectors.

Talking to the Governor, Masood Khan said, “The Pakistani population in the United States is our pride and capital. It is making a significant contribution to the growth of both nations.”

“Pakistani community is acting as a link between Pakistan and US.  The relations between Pakistan and US are poised to build on strong economic foundations. We aim to enhance these economic ties further.” The Ambassador continued.

At his turn, Governor Kevin Stitt praised the contribution made by the Pakistani community in Oklahoma, particularly by doctors and other professionals with Pakistani ancestry.

He also appreciated Masood Khan for his contribution to the development of friendly US and Pakistan relations. “You have done a lot for the establishment of very friendly relations between the US and Pakistan,” Kevin Stitt stressed.

Notably, Governor Stitt is Oklahoma’s twenty-eighth governor. In 2019 and 2022, he won elections for governor for the first and second times, respectively.

Address at APPNA Oklahoma Chapter

Following the meeting, Masood Khan along with Governor Keith participated in the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA) Oklahoma City Annual Banquet.

The event was attended by US officials, businessmen, entrepreneurs, professionals, and a large number of Pakistani diaspora including members of APPNA.

While addressing the banquet, Masood Khan reiterated, “The bilateral trade between Oklahoma and Pakistan has reached $70 million.

It still carries scope to be enhanced manifolds through better networking and interaction of the private sector of the two sides.”

“Mining, oil & gas, extractive industry, agriculture, energy, and infrastructure development, all provided solid foundations to enter into a robust and a win-win partnership.” The Envoy stressed.

Appreciating the leadership of Governor Stitt, Ambassador Khan added, “The State of Oklahoma has reached the top ten in critical categories of good governance, job growth, infrastructure, and education because of the strong vision of Governor Stitt.”

Masood Khan concluded his address by appreciating the services of nearly 300 members of APPNA based in Oklahoma. He stressed that they are making Pakistan proud with their successes in the United States.
