Islamabad, 5 December 2022 (TDI): According to the Foreign Office of Pakistan, there are reports that the Islamic State–Khorasan Province (IS-KP) has accepted responsibility for the terrorist attack on the Pakistan Embassy in Afghanistan compound.

On 2 December 2022, terrorists attacked the Pakistan Embassy in Kabul to attempt the assignation of Chargé d’affaires, Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani, Foreign Office released a statement.

Pakistan is investigating and verifying the veracity of these reports independently and with the consultation of afghan authorities, Foreign Office said on Sunday.

Moreover, the press release stated that the terrorist attack on Pakistan Embassy is yet another reminder of the threat that terrorism poses and peace and stability in Afghanistan and the region.

Both Pakistan and Afghanistan must act resolutely with all our collective might to defeat this menace of terrorism, Foreign Office urged.

According to the statement, Pakistan on its part remains steadfast and committed to combat terrorism.

Terrorist attack on Pakistan Embassy

On 2 December, the compound of the Pakistan Embassy in Kabul came under a terrorist attack. The target was Pakistan’s Head of Mission to Afghanistan, Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani, Foreign Office of Pakistan.

However, the security guard of the Head of Mission, Sepoy Israr Mohammed had critically injured while protecting the ambassador.

Later that day, Sepoy Israr Mohammed was evacuated to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) – Peshawar by special plane for further treatment.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan called on the Afghan envoy to convey Pakistan’s deep concern about the attack and urged that the security of the diplomatic Mission is the responsibility of the Aghan Interm Government.

Afghan Envoy to Pakistan, Sardar Ahmad Shakib condemned and called the perpetrators of this attack common enemies of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Afghan Interm Government also condemn the terrorist attack in the highest possible terms and insured the security of Pakistani Diplomatic Missions.

Both Afghanistan and Pakistan authorities agreed to leave no stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators of this dastardly act to justice.
