Pakistan-Norway Collaborates to Boost Renewable Energy

Oslo, 1 May 2023 (TDI):  Saadia Altaf Qazi, the current Ambassador of Pakistan to Norway, recently made a visit to the headquarters of Scatec, a well-known and influential player in the renewable energy industry in Norway. The visit was aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation and exploring new avenues for collaboration between Pakistan and Norway in renewable energy.

During her visit, Ambassador Qazi had the opportunity to meet with the top leadership of Scatec, including Terje Pilskog, the company’s CEO, and Roar Haugland, the Executive Vice President.

 

Scatec has partnered with Nizam Energy, a Pakistani renewable energy solutions provider, to set up solar power plants in Sindh worth US$100 million.

The power plants will have a total capacity of 150 MW and are expected to be operational soon.

This initiative is a significant contribution to the government of Pakistan’s efforts to promote renewable energy and reduce the country’s reliance on fossil fuels.

The meeting provided a platform for the Ambassador to discuss potential areas of mutual interest, exchange ideas on best practices and latest technologies, and explore possible joint ventures between Pakistan and Scatec.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the partnership’s progress and the solar power plant’s construction status. The Ambassador expressed her appreciation for Scatec’s efforts to invest in Pakistan’s renewable energy sector and contribute to its sustainable development.

Scatec’s CEO, Terje Pilskog, spoke positively about the partnership with Nizam Energy and the potential for renewable energy in Pakistan. EVP Haugland also expressed his gratitude to the Pakistani government and local authorities for their support and cooperation in making the project a reality.
