Goa, 5 May 2023 (TDI): Foreign Minister of Pakistan Bilawal Bhutto Zardari met with Kyrgyzstan Foreign Minister Zheenbek Kulubaev earlier today on the sidelines of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting in India.

During the meeting, both foreign ministers discussed areas of mutual interest and explored ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

The meeting between the two foreign ministers focused on enhancing cooperation in various areas, including trade, investment, energy, connectivity, education, and technology.

Both sides expressed their desire to explore new opportunities for cooperation and emphasized the importance of developing strong bilateral relations.

During the meeting, Foreign Minister Bhutto Zardari highlighted the potential of both countries and showed his willingness to enhance trade and connectivity between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan.

He also emphasized the importance of promoting people-to-people contacts and cultural exchanges to further strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries.

Foreign Minister Kulubaev expressed his appreciation for Pakistan’s support for Kyrgyzstan and thanked Pakistan for its efforts to promote regional peace and stability. He also expressed his desire to enhance cooperation with Pakistan in various areas, including energy, education, and technology.

Kyrgyzstan has been a welcoming destination for Pakistani students who are pursuing higher education, especially in medicine. Due to its affordable fees, Kyrgyzstan has been a home for students, with approximately 8,000 Pakistani students studying in the country.

Furthermore, both countries could collaborate on technology initiatives such as software development and e-commerce platforms. By working together on these fronts, Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan can build a mutually beneficial partnership that will contribute to regional stability and economic growth.

The meeting between the two foreign ministers was held in the context of the SCO, of which both Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan are members. The two sides expressed their commitment to working together within the SCO framework to promote regional peace, stability, and economic development.
