Islamabad, 16 September 2023 (TDI): Caretaker Minister for Commerce Dr Gohar Ejaz held a meeting with Wada Mitsuhiro, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, to revitalize the trade relationship of Pakistan with Japan.
The purpose of the conference was to explore and enhance commercial ties between both states, with a focus on the automotive industry in Japan and the potential to increase bilateral trade in other industries including textile and agricultural.
During the meeting, Dr. Gohar Ejaz stressed the importance of Japan’s outstanding trade practices and its global reputation as a leader in international trade.
“The only way to trade is the way Japan trades,” the Minister of Commerce said, emphasising Pakistan’s eagerness for Japan’s economic policies and its desire to closely cooperate with Japan.
Moreover, the Minister of Commerce warmly invited Japan and conveyed Pakistan’s genuine interest in strengthening its trading ties with the former. Pakistan is aware of the enormous potential for development and collaboration within this alliance.
Furthermore, Ambassador Wada Mitsuhiro repeated the call for collaboration and highlighted the importance of developing a road plan for expanding exports to Japan.
This road plan will act as a strategic road map to improve commercial relations and build economic relationships between the two countries.
The famous automobile industry of Japan was the meeting’s main topic. Japan is a worldwide leader in the production of automobiles, and Pakistan sees tremendous prospects for collaboration and trade expansion in this industry.
Although, the automobile business in Japan, worth several billion dollars and renowned for its cutting-edge technologies and premium goods, thrives.
Pakistan is in a good position to partner with Japan in this area because of its expanding economy and skilled labour force, which would benefit both countries and promote economic progress.

After their discussion, Minister of Commerce Dr Gohar Ejaz and Ambassador Wada Mitsuhiro agreed to look into ways to expand trade, notably in the automotive sector.
Regarding the future of commercial relations between Pakistan and Japan, both parties voiced hope.
Pakistan Ministry of Commerce remains committed to developing a strong economic relationship with Japan and welcomes new efforts and conversations to increase bilateral trade.
