London, 08 September 2023 (TDI): Pakistan High Commission in London organized an event to mark the 58th anniversary of Pakistan Defense Day as part of the Defense and Martyrs Day commemoration on September 06.

The event was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, among whom were Dr. Victoria Tuke representing the UK’s Ministry of Defense, distinguished Lords and Members of Parliament, Defense Attaches from allied nations, and community members.

During his speech, High Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Faisal expressed his heartfelt tribute to the nation’s martyrs and underscored the profound importance of the day, dedicated to honoring the brave individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of Pakistan.

He also took a moment to reflect on the historic events of September 6, 1965, when Pakistan’s Armed Forces, with steadfast support from its citizens, effectively thwarted an invasion from a notably larger adversary.

Dr. Faisal emphasized the pivotal role that Pakistan’s armed forces have played in shaping the nation’s security landscape.

He pointed out their continuous efforts to combat terrorism by disrupting legislative and financial networks, citing the National Action Plan as a prime example.

The High Commissioner emphasized the significance of worldwide collaboration in addressing the underlying causes of terrorism.

In this regard, he expressed his appreciation for the enduring partnership between the United Kingdom and Pakistan in defense and security.

Commodore Muhammad Zeeshan Nabi, Defence & Naval Adviser, and Colonel Taimur Rahat, Army and Air Attache, also addressed the gathering, reiterating the enduring significance of Pakistan Defense Day.
