Islamabad, 30 September 2022 (TDI): The Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Pakistan, Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al-Zaabi, called on Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed the importance Pakistan attached to its fraternal relations with the UAE and extended best wishes for the continued progress and prosperity of the brotherly people of the UAE.
The Prime Minister highlighted the extensive devastation caused by the recent floods across Pakistan and the response of the Government to address the dire situation.
In this regard, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the relief assistance provided by the UAE to the flood-stricken people and for establishing an air corridor to provide humanitarian assistance.
The Prime Minister added that Pakistan was committed to further deepening its relations with the United Arab Emirates in all areas of common interest.
Pakistan-UAE relations
Pakistan and the UAE enjoy close fraternal ties for five decades that are rooted firmly in common beliefs and shared values and culture and which have evolved into wide-ranging cooperation in various fields.
The UAE is Pakistan’s largest trading partner in the Middle East and a major source of investments.
In addition, Pakistan offers trained and skilled labor to boost foreign remittance and ensure value-addition to the relations. With respect to CPEC, linking Gwadar and Dubai will transform this region into a new global economic hub.
The two partners are closely aligned in regional development, peace, and stability. In the wake of the Taliban takeover and the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, the UAE ensured Pakistan of its full support for the promotion of peace and stability in Afghanistan.
During the recent devastating rain-induced Floods in Pakistan, UAE has been one of the countries that extended their full support and assistance to the people of Pakistan in these difficult times.
