Pakistan Embassy Hosts TVET Forum in Beijing

Beijing (TDI): Pakistan Embassy in Beijing organized on Thursday the inaugural China-Pakistan Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Forum as a ground-breaking initiative to strengthen bilateral cooperation in human resource development and education.

Titled as “Fostering a Skilled Workforce: Forging a Brighter Future,” the event brought together policy makers, high-level government officials, representatives of enterprises, renowned TVET service-providers and leadership of technical and vocational institutes from across China.

The keynote speakers included Jia Peng, Deputy Director General of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges, Ministry of Education; Yang Yi, Director of the Vocational Training Division, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and Xu Yan, Deputy Director General of China People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC).

The speakers highlighted the pivotal role of TVET in equipping individuals with practical skills, nurturing employability, and driving innovation in modern industries.

They also underlined China Pakistan TVET cooperation as a shining manifestation of iron-clad friendship between the two nations.

In his welcome remarks, Ambassador of Pakistan to China, Khalil Hashmi, described the forum as a major milestone in Embassy’s efforts to support the industrialization process in Pakistan.

He expressed the hope that the event would contribute to building a productive workforce equipped with necessary skills to deliver on CPEC projects in its next phase.

He commended the exceptional support rendered by ITMC, China in bringing high-quality TVET programs to Pakistan.

Ahsan Iqbal Highlights TVET Critical Role

In a pre-recorded message, Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, underscored the critical role of TVET in achieving sustainable economic development.

He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to working with China to expand TVET programs as part of 5 E’s development framework of Pakistan.

The event also featured video remarks by Federal Secretary Education and speeches by Sardar Amir Altaf Khan, Minister TEVTA, AJK, Brig. (R) Muhammad Sajid Khokhar, Chairperson, Punjab TEVTA, Amir Afaq, Secretary Industries, Commerce and Technical Education, KPK, who presented an overview of TEVT landscape in Pakistan, highlighted emerging trends and shared recommendations for future collaboration.
