Pakistan condemns terrorist attack on Courthouse Complex

Islamabad, 7 February 2024 (TDI): Pakistan strongly denounces the terrorist assault aimed at the Courthouse Complex in Istanbul.

The Foreign Office spokesperson expressed deep condolences and solidarity with the people and government of Turkey in the wake of this tragic incident.

In a statement issued on February 6, the spokesperson extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy and complete recovery of those injured in the cowardly attack.

According to Turkish media, two shooters attempting to attack a checkpoint outside a courthouse in Istanbul were captured dead.

“Today, there has been an attempted terrorist attack at the security checkpoint in front of the C Gate of Caglayan Courthouse,” Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said after the attack that left six people injured, including three police officers.

Pakistan stands firmly with Turkey during this challenging time, emphasizing unwavering support and solidarity.

Reaffirming Solidarity Against Terrorism

Pakistan reiterates its resolute solidarity with Turkey in combating the menace of terrorism.

Previously, on November 14, 2022 Pakistan vehemently condemned a similar terrorist attack in Istanbul and reiterated its unwavering support for Turkey in combating terrorism.

However, President Dr Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed deep grief over loss of precious lives in the Istanbul explosion.

According to reports, when an explosion rocked a busy pedestrian street in central Istanbul.

This incident has tragically resulted in the deaths of 6 civilians, with more than 81 individuals sustaining injuries.

As Pakistan mourns the loss of innocent lives and stands in solidarity with Turkey, it emphasizes the need for global unity in the fight against terrorism.
