Minister of IT meets delegation from P@SHA

Islamabad, 28 March 2024(TDI): A significant delegation from the Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA), led by its Chairman Muhammad Zohaib Khan, convened with the Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, at her office on March  28.

The meeting aimed to discuss pivotal strategies for fostering economic stability, enhancing the IT sector, and advancing telecommunication infrastructure in Pakistan.

 

Chairman P@SHA, Zohaib Khan, conveyed warm congratulations to Minister of State for IT, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, on assuming her responsibilities.

The Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) is the premier trade association representing the IT and IT-enabled services industry in Pakistan.

With a membership base comprising leading software houses, technology companies, and freelancers, P@SHA strives to promote the growth and global competitiveness of Pakistan’s IT industry.

Pivotal Discussions

Acknowledging the critical role of the IT industry, Minister Khawaja highlighted the government’s dedication to fostering foreign direct investment and augmenting IT exports.

She emphasized the significance of providing international-level training to youth and creating ample employment opportunities within the IT sector.

Minister Khawaja further expressed confidence in Pakistan’s IT professionals, positioning them as prime candidates for international companies.

She urged P@SHA to collaborate closely to bridge the gap between demand and supply of IT professionals.

In response, Chairman P@SHA, Zohaib Khan, reaffirmed the association’s commitment to partnering with the Ministry of IT to bolster the nation’s economic landscape.

He commended Minister Shaza Fatima for her unwavering dedication to the advancement of the IT industry.

Focus: Spectrum Auction and Fiberization Initiatives

In a parallel meeting, Chief Regulatory Officer (CRO) of Zong, Kamran Ali, also met with Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja.

Meanwhile,discussions centered around the forthcoming 5G spectrum auction and the imperative of digitalization.

Muhammad Jahanzeb Rahim, Member Telecom, Ministry of IT, was present during the deliberations, underscoring the collaborative efforts towards technological advancement.

Additionally, CEO of Nayatel, Wahaj-us-Siraj, engaged with Minister Shaza Fatima to deliberate on telecommunication and fiberization initiatives.

The meeting underscored the significance of robust telecommunication infrastructure in propelling socio-economic development.

The interactions between P@SHA, telecom stakeholders, and Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja reflect a collective commitment to leveraging technology for national progress.

Such collaborative endeavors are poised to stimulate innovation, foster economic growth, and propel Pakistan towards a digitally empowered future.
