Pakistan Reaffirms Commitment to Stronger SCO Ties

Islamabad (TDI): Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Tuesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening cooperation with member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), highlighting the platform’s growing importance for regional development and economic integration.

Speaking during a virtual meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors of SCO countries, held in Beijing, Aurangzeb underscored the value Pakistan places on its membership in the bloc.

He described the SCO as a critical vehicle for promoting economic prosperity, stability, and sustainable growth across the region.

“The principles enshrined in the SCO Charter and the Shanghai Spirit serve as a foundation for expanding our partnerships,” he said.

The finance minister welcomed the organization’s expanding agenda and its role in encouraging trade, investment, and financial collaboration among member countries.

He voiced support for new joint ventures, particularly those focused on technology exchange, infrastructure, and capacity-building.

Aurangzeb also stressed the need to accelerate progress in the digital economy and improve financial inclusion, calling them key drivers of equitable development.

He also called for collective efforts to fight against global economic headwinds, growing inequality, and climate-related impacts.

He mentioned that Pakistan was ready to work with the SCO partners to achieve common objectives for sustainable regional peace and economic resilience.
