Islamabad (TDI): Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Friday discussed hydropower projects with China Energy International Group, which has delivered 21 mega projects worth over $12 billion in Pakistan.
The meeting focused on the Azad Pattan (700 MW) and Suki Kinari (870 MW) hydropower projects, with a combined investment of $3.5 billion, and their significance for Pakistan’s sustainable energy future.
The minister lauded China Energy’s commitment to the timely implementation of the Azad Pattan project, terming it a model of bilateral cooperation and sustainable infrastructure development.

The company assured adherence to timelines set by the Government of Pakistan.
Wang Huihua, General Manager of China Energy, highlighted the group’s three-decade contribution to Pakistan’s engineering and infrastructure sectors, including renewable energy, highways, and water conservation.

He also expressed interest in exploring new projects aligned with Pakistan’s priorities, including eco-environmental protection, smart cities, and CPEC-related initiatives.
