Kunming (TDI): Pakistan, China and Bangladesh have agreed to work more closely together through a new trilateral framework aimed at promoting regional cooperation and mutual development.
The understanding was reached during the first high-level meeting of the three nations’ foreign ministries, held in Kunming, China, on Thursday.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the meeting marked the beginning of a coordinated effort to advance shared goals through openness, mutual respect, good neighborly ties, and trust-based collaboration.
The talks were attended in person by Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, Bangladesh’s Acting Foreign Secretary Ruhul Alam Siddique, and Pakistan’s Additional Foreign Secretary Imran Ahmed Siddiqui.
Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch joined the opening session virtually.
Speaking during the meeting, Ambassador Baloch praised China for initiating the platform and welcomed the opportunity to collaborate with both neighbors on issues of common interest. She emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to people-focused growth and inclusive development across the region.

She added that Pakistan sees real potential for deeper cooperation in a wide range of areas, including trade, agriculture, digital technology, climate resilience, marine research, education, and cultural exchange.
All three countries expressed satisfaction with the state of their bilateral relations and agreed that the trilateral dialogue could pave the way for new opportunities in South Asia.

The three sides also agreed to form a joint working group to implement the understandings reached during the gathering.
