Pakistan, Bulgaria Mark 60 Years of Ties

Islamabad (TDI): Bulgarian Embassy in Islamabad hosted a vibrant reception titled “The Ancient Treasures of Bulgaria” to commemorate the Day of the Bulgarian Alphabet and Culture, as well as the 60th anniversary of Bulgaria-Pakistan diplomatic ties.

The event attracted a congregation of individuals from various strata of life, including diplomats, government officials, academics, and the culture lovers.

Welcoming the guests, Irena Gancheva, Bulgarian Ambassador, highlighted Pakistan-Bulgaria relations spanned over 60 years.

She said that these ties are rooted in strong cooperation, mutual respect, and a belief that cultural exchange acts as a bridge between people.

She said that cultural activities are vital and relevant towards strengthening relations between the two regions.

“Such activities of this nature can connect people beyond political and economic consideration and it brings our peoples together,” she remarked.

Additional Foreign Secretary for Europe at Foreign Affairs Muhammad Ayub attended as the chief guest.

Terming it a befitting occasion, he highlighted Bulgaria’s national cultural observance, and lauded the efforts of the embassy towards fostering understanding and cooperation between the two nations.

He congratulated Bulgaria on its national cultural day and commended the embassy’s efforts to promote cultural understanding.

He expressed hope for enhanced cooperation in education, culture and trade.

A key highlight of the event was a special exhibition, “The Ancient Treasures of Bulgaria,” displaying the rich archaeological and cultural heritage of Bulgaria.
