Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan on Saturday expressed its full support for Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to ensure peace and stability in Yemen, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Office (FO).

The FO said Pakistan was closely monitoring recent developments in Yemen and welcomed the diplomatic initiatives being undertaken by both Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

“Pakistan expresses its full support for the diplomatic efforts being undertaken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for ensuring peace and stability in the Republic of Yemen. We also commend the efforts of the United Arab Emirates in this regard,” the statement read.

The FO stressed the importance of maintaining Yemen’s unity and territorial integrity and urged Yemeni stakeholders to avoid unilateral actions that could escalate tensions. It also called on all parties to engage constructively in good faith toward an inclusive, negotiated political solution based on agreed parameters.

The announcement comes after the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Yemen’s main southern separatist group, took control of the government’s headquarters in Aden earlier this month, asserting broad authority across southern Yemen. Saudi Arabia has called on the separatists to return the territory and emphasized de-escalation within the government camp.

The UAE, meanwhile, reaffirmed its support for Saudi Arabia’s efforts to maintain security and stability in Yemen.
