Davos, 30 May 2022 (TDI): Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari accompanied by the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hina Rabbani Khar attended the World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting at Davos, Switzerland.
It was held from May 23-26. Foreign Minister Bilawal Zardari participated in the Informal Gathering of World Economic Leaders (IGWEL).
During these meetings, the Foreign Minister discussed the way outs to restore peace and order, navigate the Middle East through geopolitical turbulence, and avert a New Cold War.
Meetings with Foreign Ministers
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, in a meeting with the Gulf Cooperation Council’s Secretary-General, Dr. Nayef Falah M. Al-Hajraf, discussed Pakistan’s cooperation with GCC member states and agreed to explore new measures to improve trade and economic ties.
Besides, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari met his Finnish counterpart, Pekka Haavisto on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos.
Underscoring that Pakistan valued Finland as an important bilateral and EU member, the Foreign Minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its political and economic ties with the Scandinavian country.
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Bilawal Zardari also met with his Romanian counterpart, Bogdan Aurescu, on the margins of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Trade and investment, development and education, as well as a partnership at multilateral forums were covered by the two Ministers during their meeting.
Moreover, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan also met Foreign Ministers of Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Austria, and discussed bilateral ties and ways out for better diplomatic relations.

Minister of State Hina Rabbani Khar’s Meetings
Minister of State, Hina Rabbani Khar attended a WEF side event on “Afghanistan: The Path Forward” while attending the Forum.
During the meeting, she urged the international community to continue its patience, persistence, and prudence in order to achieve the shared goals of a peaceful and stable Afghanistan.
Hina Rabbani Khar also participated in ‘Stakeholders Dialogue-The Geopolitical Outlook’ at the WEF. Pakistan’s participation in the World Economic Forum (WEF) provided an opportunity to promote its favorable image, develop a diplomatic relationship and entice global businessmen to engage in the rising prospects in Pakistan through investments.
