Ho Chi Minh, 10 September 2022 (TDI): Pakistan participated in the 16th International Travel Expo held in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.
Representatives from the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and the Pakistan Association of Tour Operation (PATO) took part in the event.

It is the first time that Pakistan is participating in the event. Additionally, a 4-member delegation of Pakistan’s tour operators set up the Pakistan pavilion at the Expo. These operators include Legend Hotels and Resorts, Zoon Safaris, Hunza Explorers, and Saltoro Summits Treks and Tours.
The purpose of setting up this pavilion is to attract tourists to Pakistan. Moreover, it represents Pakistan’s potential in tourism while highlighting the beautiful and historical places to be explored in the country.
Ambassador of Pakistan
The Pakistani ambassador to Laos and Vietnam, Samina Mehtab, also attended the 16th International Trade Expo. She was accompanied by Commercial Secretary, Ali Qayyum Raja. Both officials participated in the opening ceremony of the tourist Expo, 2022.

Additionally, the Pakistani ambassador highlighted that the pavilion of Pakistan is one of the achievements gained by Pakistan while celebrating its 75th Independence Day anniversary.
It is noteworthy that Pakistan celebrated its Independence Day on the 14th of August 2022 which marked 75 years of the county’s independence from British rule.
Moreover, she also highlighted that 2022 commemorates 50 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Vietnam.
Ambassador Samina also attended the Tourism Marketing Day Seminar to highlight the importance of tourism.

16th International Travel Expo HCMC
This year, the largest and most established annual international travel trade event in Vietnam was held under the theme “Growing Forward Together”. Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism organized the event.
The Expo took place at Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), District 7, Ho Chi Minh City. It lasted from the 8th of September to the 10th of September, 2022.
The event aimed to enhance exchanges, tourism promotion, and business opportunities for domestic and foreign tourism companies. Moreover, ITE HCMC 2022 was held in a hybrid format, a combination of physical events and online events.
This includes 2D Online Booth, 3D Virtual Reality Expo, and Online Appointment scheduled between International Buyers and Sellers.
ITE HCMC 2022 attracted over 300 exhibiting companies and 150 high-level buyers from over 50 countries and territories together. Correspondingly more than 20,000 visitors attended the three days event.
Pakistan Vietnam Relations
Pakistan and Vietnam have enjoyed 50 years of diplomatic relations since 8 November 1972. The relationship is largely based on mutual trade and international political cooperation.
Pakistan’s Vietnam trade exchange is based on cotton, leather, rubber, and pharmaceutical products. Vietnam has also purchased military equipment and armaments from Pakistan.

Moreover, recently Pakistan joined Vietnam on its 77th Independence Day anniversary. On the occasion, both countries affirmed to strengthen their relations through cooperation in different domains.
