Pakistan, Saudi Arabia Launch Police Training Exchange Program

Riyadh (TDI): Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are set to launch a police training exchange program to enhance law enforcement collaboration and strengthen institutional ties between the two nations.

The discussions were part of a high-level meeting between Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and senior officials from the Saudi Interior Ministry. Much of the discussion focused on the enduring matter of the legal status of Rohingya Muslims living in Saudi Arabia.

Mohsin Naqvi described Saudi Arabia as “a second home for every Pakistani” and highlighted the longstanding partnership between the two nations.

The meeting was attended by Interior Secretary Muhammad Khurram Agha, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ahmad Farooq, Commandant of the Federal Constabulary, Nazir Gaara, Commandant of the National Police Academy, Muhammad Idrees, and senior Saudi interior ministry officials.

The officials expressed satisfaction over the growing cooperation in security and interior affairs and emphasized the importance of continuing close coordination.

Both sides also agreed to formalize a police training exchange program to enhance capacity-building and professional development for law enforcement personnel in both countries.

Both ministers concurred on initiating a training exchange for police and paramilitary personnel, signaling a fresh phase of professional cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

They also agreed that the next session of the Pakistan–Saudi Arabia Interior Ministries Working Group will take place next month.

The initiative reflects a growing recognition of shared security interests between the two countries, especially at a time of rising regional threats.

During the meeting, officials highlighted that stronger institutional linkages and regular exchanges could help both nations better counter evolving challenges.
