Pakistan Successfully Launches Remote Sensing Satellite

Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), the National Space Agency of Pakistan, has announced the successful launch of Remote Sensing Satellite from Xichang Satellite Launch Center (XSLC) in China.

This launch is a step forward in the country’s efforts toward self-reliance and technological excellence in space exploration, achieved through close collaboration between SUPARCO, China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC), and MICROSAT China.

The newly launched Satellite will provide imaging capabilities to revolutionize urban planning, disaster management, food security, and environmental protection. It will also aid in monitoring climate change, managing water resources, mapping agricultural patterns, and tracking deforestation.

The satellite will also support precision agriculture to boost crop yields, monitor infrastructure growth and urban expansion, and enable effective regional planning.

It will enhance disaster management efforts by providing timely warnings for floods, landslides, and earthquakes, while tracking glacier recession and deforestation.

Moreover, the satellite will contribute to development initiatives such as the China Pakistan Economic Corridor by mapping transportation networks and identifying geohazard risks.

On the occasion of the launch, Pakistan’s Minister of Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal, expressed appreciation for the engineers, scientists, and technical teams of both SUPARCO as well as international partners.

Chairman SUPARCO, Mohammad Yousaf Khan, said that this launch will be an edifice for an integrated Earth Observation System, to support national priorities across multiple sectors.
