The core topic of the discussion was re-formation of Pakistan – Japan Parliamentary Friendship League. Both sides expressed desire to enhance mutual understanding, collaboration and bilateral parliament relations between the two nations.
The interactive session with the Japanese Parliament reflects the shared commitment of both nations for stronger and strategic relations as parliament level engagements highlight the government to government diplomacy.
Pakistan and Japan established their official diplomatic ties in April 1952 and since then both countries have enjoyed friendly and cooperative ties and have enhanced bilateral relations in trade, investment, education, infrastructure and culture.
Japan also serves as a major source of Official Development Assistance (ODA) to Pakistan which is focused at supporting and improving crucial sectors such as transport, energy and infrastructure.
