Pak–Bahrain Parliamentary Friendship Group Holds Inaugural Session

Islamabad (TDI): The Pakistan–Bahrain Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG) held its first meeting on Wednesday, chaired by MNA Asia Naz Tanoli.

Representatives from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Commerce delivered detailed briefings during the session.

The meeting was attended by several Members of the National Assembly, including Federal Minister for Public Affairs Rana Mubashir Iqbal, Ch. Muhammad Shahbaz Babar, Dr. Mahesh Kumar Malani, Haji Rasool Bux Chandio, Pullain Baloch, and Kiran Imran Dar, who joined virtually.

Senior officials from both ministries were also present, while Saqib Rauf, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Bahrain, participated online.

Discussions centered on key areas such as the present status of Pakistan–Bahrain relations, ongoing diplomatic exchanges, prospects for parliamentary collaboration, and potential opportunities in trade and investment.

Participants appreciated the efforts of Pakistan’s diplomatic mission in Bahrain for its role in facilitating the recent parliamentary visit and acknowledged its active engagement in strengthening ties between the two nations.

Speaking at the session, Minister Rana Mubashir Iqbal underscored the need to explore new avenues of investment, especially within the agriculture and business sectors, to boost economic cooperation.

Convener Asia Naz Tanoli suggested organizing a virtual meeting with members of the Bahraini Parliament to deepen mutual understanding and coordination.

Members of the Friendship Group reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral relations through sustained parliamentary contact, institutionalized communication channels, and greater people-to-people linkages.

They pledged continued support to Pakistan’s diplomatic missions and expressed determination to expand cooperation across multiple sectors of shared interest.
