Skopje, 31 August 2023 (TDI): The Russian Foreign, Sergey Lavrov held a telephonic conversation with the Chairman-in-the Office of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Bujar Osmani, where both sides discussed important matters related to OSCE.

The Chairman-in-the Office of OSCE and the Foreign Minister of North Macedonia, Bujar Osmani initiated the call to the Russian Foreign Minister.

 

During the conversation, the discussion was made on current issues including on the OSCE agenda and focusing on the systemic crisis in OSCE.

The viewpoint regarding appointing the OSCE Chairperson in Office and heads of its executive bodies for 2024 were also touched upon during the conversation.

Apart from that, both sides talked over the obstacles regarding agreeing on the OSCE consolidated budget for 2023.

During the conversation, the Russian Foreign Minister also stressed streamlining the OSCE’s activities within the framework of the Rules of Procedure of OSCE.

Besides that, he emphasized to resume the drafting and adoption of decisions of OSCE exclusively in accordance with the fundamental rule of consensus.

Meanwhile, the  Chairman of OSCE, Bujar Osmani addressed current challenges in the OSCE region.

He repeated the Chairpersonship’s call to adhere to the basic principles and commitments of the OSCE.

Chairman Osmani emphasized the immediate need for an end to the ongoing Russian-Ukraine crisis and the withdrawal of Russian military forces from Ukraine. He also called to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all the participating states.
