Jeddah, 30 October 2023 (TDI): Hissein Brahim Taha, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), has issued a powerful statement denouncing the continued and escalating Israeli military aggression against the Gaza Strip
The aggression has persisted for twenty-three consecutive days.
However, this relentless assault has resulted in the tragic loss of thousands of lives and severe injuries to innocent civilians, including women, children, medical personnel, and journalists.
Furthermore, it has led to the deliberate destruction of buildings, hospitals, schools, places of worship, and United Nations facilities.
Additionally, Israel continues to pose threats to hospitals and prevent access to essential resources such as food, medicine, water, and electricity, constituting collective punishment, war crimes, and a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law.

The Secretary-General also reaffirms the OIC’s rejection and condemnation of the escalating acts of, incitement, murder, and organized terrorism carried out by extremist settler groups and Israeli occupation forces against Palestinian citizens throughout the West Bank, including the occupied city of Al-Quds (Jerusalem).
These criminal acts have tragically led to the martyrdom of more than 115 Palestinian citizens since the beginning of the month. The Secretary-General holds Israel, as the occupying power, fully responsible for the continuation of these criminal acts.
In light of these grave developments, the Secretary-General urgently calls on the international community to intervene and pressure Israel, as the occupying power, to cease its brutal aggression against the Palestinian people immediately.
This intervention is necessary to compel Israel to respect and implement international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
The Secretary-General further emphasizes the importance of establishing permanent humanitarian corridors to facilitate the access of medicines, food supplies, and basic necessities to the Gaza Strip.
