Pyongyang, 6 January 2022 (TDI): Reportedly, North Korea or the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) has successfully test-fired a hypersonic missile.
The news of the Missile test was shared by the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on today.
The Academy of Defence Science of North Korea conducted the test.
The missile maneuvered 120 km laterally before hitting the target precisely 700 km away. According to the report, the precision of the test proved the reliability of a new fuel system.
Hypersonic Misslie Test
The test was conducted to ascertain the reliability of the fuel system under the influence of cold temperatures in winter weather conditions. Moreover, this test comes in the wake of the launch of Hwasong-8 earlier in September 2021 and is the second test-fire of the hypersonic missile as confirmed by the DPRK. Aside from that, North Korea had also conducted a test of a Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) in October, last year.
“Successive successes in the test launches” in the hypersonic missile sector “have strategic significance in that they hasten a task for modernizing strategic armed force of the state”
Response of China To DPRK’s Missile Test
In response to the question about testing of a hypersonic missile by North Korea, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, Wang Wenbin stated that China has taken note of the relevant reports emerging from the region as well as the recent developments regarding the situation on the Korean Peninsula.
He further enunciated that China is optimistic and hopes that all the relevant parties will be mindful about the overall interests along with speaking and acting prudently.
Moreover, China hopes that they will adhere to the right direction which involves dialogue and negotiation, as well as work jointly in order to promote the political settlement of the Korean Peninsula issue.
