The theme of World Water Week

The theme of World Water Week, “Seeing the unseen. The value of water,” is structured around three main perspectives:

  • The value of water for people and development.
  • The value of water for nature and climate change .
  • The financial and economic value of water.

There will be a diversity of topics, including valuing water, youth engagement, the resilience of ecosystems, and more. The Netherlands government will be convening and co-convening several sessions and events around these diverse topics.

The online sessions will be held from different countries and cover different topics. All those topics will revolve mostly around how to save water to conserve the ecosystem.

Liesje Schreinemacher, the Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, will join the Week’s closing ceremony.

There will also be a talk show with Henk Ovink, Special Envoy for International Water Affairs, Kingdom of The Netherlands and Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the International Fund for saving the Aral Sea (EC IFAS).

There will also be interaction with Directorate General for International Cooperation (DGIS) representatives at the preparation for an inclusive and action-oriented UN 2023 Water Conference session and in the High-Level Panel on Water Investments for Africa.

Apart from this, a unique watershed moment for the world, the UN 2023 Water Conference will be a chance to bring everyone together, commit to real and meaningful action to ensure a water secure world for all, by all by 2030.
