Islamabad (TDI): The Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Neil Hawkins, marked Anzac Day alongside Turkish Envoy, in a special ceremony early morning, in Islamabad.
Australians and New Zealanders around the world mark April 25 as Anzac Day, a solemn national day of remembrance that honors the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who served and sacrificed in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.
This Day is the anniversary of the landing of ANZAC troops at Gallipoli in 1915 during World War I. What began as a military campaign became a powerful symbol of endurance, bravery, and the unwavering spirit of mateship.
More than a century later, the day continues to resonate as a time of reflection on the cost of conflict and the importance of peace.
Dawn services, memorial events, and community gatherings are held across Australia, New Zealand, and by their diplomatic missions worldwide, reaffirming a collective commitment to honoring those who served and those who continue to serve.
The event in Islamabad brought together members of the diplomatic corps, local dignitaries, journalists, and representatives of the Australian community.
Gathered at dawn in Islamabad, we remember the ANZAC spirit—service, courage, respect, and mateship. The message of reconciliation 🇦🇺 🇹🇷 continues to echo across cultures and borders. On #AnzacDay2025, we honour all who’ve served. #LestWeForget pic.twitter.com/FFdLoIghe3

Anzac Day is a time for all Australians and New Zealanders to pause and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
The commemoration featured a tribute to the ANZAC legacy, a moment of silence, and a dialogue on the importance of historical memory in strengthening global relationships.
Hawkins also expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s longstanding contributions to international peacekeeping and the strong bilateral ties between the two nations.
As the world reflects on over a century of Anzac history, the spirit of Anzac continues to inspire values of courage, service, and unity across borders.
