Kyiv, 24 August 2022 (TDI): NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg participated with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other world leaders in the online Summit of the Crimea Platform.

The Secretary-General provided detailed information about how The North Atlantic Treaty Organization( NATO) and its allies strongly support Ukraine.

Along with that, the Secretary-General also discussed human rights challenges in Crimea.

The Crimea platform organized an online event for the Second Summit of the Crimea Platform on 23 August.

President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, hosting this important event, especially after the Russia-Ukraine war.

Moreover, the event brought together world leaders representing government officials and international organizations. The event was live-streamed on the YouTube Channel of the official Crimea Platform.

In a statement, Jens Stoltenberg stated that Ukraine has endured six awful months of the war but also demonstrated its extraordinary ability to resist cruel aggression.

Furthermore, he added that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and its right to self-defense and independence are firmly supported by NATO and its allies.

In the same vein, unprecedented military, financial, and humanitarian assistance has been given to Ukraine by NATO allies.

Additionally, the Secretary-General recalled that NATO significantly stepped up its support after the “illegal annexation” of Crimea.

Moreover, the Secretary-General stated that NATO is committed to the partnership with Ukraine for the long term.

According to him, NATO will assist Ukraine in upgrading from Soviet-era to NATO-standard equipment, continuing the reform of the defense and security sectors, and supporting post-war reconstruction efforts.

Along these lines, the Secretary-General endorsed that NATO would continue to stand with Ukraine for as long as it takes because ā€Winter is coming, and it will be hard.ā€

Moreover, the conflict that is currently being witnessed is one of attrition. He added, ā€œthis is a battle of wills and logistics.ā€

Therefore, the support to Ukraine must be sustained for the long term so that Ukraine prevails as a sovereign independent nation.
