Mongolia, Russia to cooperate in emergency field

Ulaanbaatar, 1 November 2021(TDI): A delegation of Mongolia led by the Chief of the National Emergency Management Agency, Major General G.Ariunbuyan attended the 18th meeting of ‘Mongolian-Russian Joint Commission on Cooperation in the Prevention of Industrial Accidents, Natural Disasters and Elimination of Their Consequences’. It was held in Elista-Kalmykia, Russia on October 27-28.

I.P. Denisov, the Deputy Minister for Civil Defense, Emergencies, and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters of the Russian Federation (EMERCOM) represented the Russian side. The Head of Kalmykia, Batu Khasikov also took part in the meeting. Earlier, the two allies celebrated 100 years of bilateral ties.

The two sides discussed the collaboration of emergency services in the meeting.

They agreed to include Mongolian specialists in short-term advanced training at educational institutes of EMERCOM. Also, the two partners will co-organize deep-water exercises annually.

A plan of cooperation for 2022-2023 between the National Emergency Management Agency of Mongolia and the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Civil Defense, Emergencies, and Elimination of the Consequences of Natural Disasters was also approved. It was decided that the 19th meeting of the joint commission in 2023 will be held in Mongolia.

The Mongolian delegation also met the Head of Kalmykia, Batu Khasikov. They exchanged views on Mongolia-Russia cooperation and relations in disaster protection.
