Glasgow, 8 November 2021 (TDI): The President of Mongolia, Khurelsukh Ukhnaa addressed the COP26 World Leaders Summit. The Summit is being held in Glasgow, Scotland. Many countries are participating in the Summit.
Goals of the Paris Agreement
Whilst speaking at the summit he said that to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement by 2050, all countries need to revisit their efforts. The world needs to strive collectively, through a comprehensive policy.

COVID-19 pandemic
Prevalently, humanity is facing the scourge of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Mongolian President emphasized that this is the time to change the attitude towards nature. It is imperative that all the countries, jointly take decisive measures to accelerate green growth.
Mongolia’s vulnerability to Climate Change
Mongolia is one of the most vulnerable countries to Climate Change. The country completely supports the international community to reach net-zero emissions. It will stand by its commitments to the Paris Agreement and rally every resource to accomplish them.
Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Greenhouse gas emissions are the main cause of Climate Change. Mongolia has raised its target to reduce emissions to 22.7 percent by 2030. It will do so by updating its Nationally Determined Contributions.
Khurelsukh Ukhnaa announced that through advanced technology and innovation and an increase in funding, Mongolia’s commitment can increase to 27.2 percent.
Northeast Asian Region
Talking about Northeast Asian Region, he highlighted that a cross-border energy network should be established. Such a network will enhance the production of renewable energy.
Asian Super Grid Initiative

He said that his country supports the Asian Super Grid Initiative for increasing renewable energy sources in Northeast Asia. Within this framework, Mongolia is collaborating with the regional countries to build a large energy complex. The complex will be based on solar and wind resources of the Gobi region.
Mongolia-Green Development
The Mongolian President underscored that is country successfully organized International Dialogue on “Mongolia-Green Development”. It has launched a national campaign to plant billions of trees by 2030. This will help the country to reach net-zero emission targets and decrease poverty or combat desertification through economic means. It will also protect the health of children and women who are the most vulnerable to Climate Change.
Mutual Collaboration
He stressed the need for mutual collaboration and understanding to fight climate change, the world’s greatest challenge of all time. A responsible approach to nature will lead to a greener world. It is time for the world to work in close coordination.
