Moeed Yusuf’s online meeting with Zhao Kezhi

Islamabad/Beijing, 25 August 2021 (TDI): On Tuesday, Dr. Moeed Yusuf, National Security Advisor (NSA) Pakistan, held an online meeting with the Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security, Zhao Kezhi.

During the meeting, both sides had a detailed discussion on the matters of mutual benefits, regional peace, and regional security. Both sides also exchanged views and discussed investing process of the recent suicide attack on a motorcade carrying Chinese nationals.

Zhai, during the meeting, mentioned that China wants the Pakistani agencies to upgrade the security measures and to catch the perpetrators behind the Gwadar expressway attack and also find the reality behind the Dasu bus attack. He also stated that China hopes to see a more securitized and protective environment for the Chinese nationals and projects in Pakistan.

“China and Pakistan should collaborate to strengthen the protection system and China is ready to enhance its anti-terrorism cooperation with Pakistan and retain a close communication and coordination on the situation in Afghanistan to play a constructive role in protecting regional and national security and stability”, said Zhao.

Moeed in response to Zhao’s remarks mentioned that China is an iron brother to Pakistan. He assured the Chinese side that Pakistan will put in all the efforts to find the perpetrators of the attacks and will punish them.

Along with this discussion, both sides also discussed the recent situation in Afghanistan and agreed that Afghan soil should not become a haven for terrorists. Both sides also discussed the bilateral ties and showed satisfaction over the relations. Zhao also mentioned that he would visit Pakistan once COVID is over.
