Jakarta, 13 July 2023 (TDI):  Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar held a meeting that took place today in Jakarta and was productive.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the ASEAN ministerial events and demonstrated both countries’ commitment to advancing their bilateral ties.

They engaged in thorough discussion, covering a wide range of crucial issues about the long-lasting friendship between Russia and India.

The ministers analyzed new opportunities for mutual growth and development while covering a range of cooperating topics, including bilateral economic challenges.

India’s External Affairs Minister expressed his thoughts to the Russian foreign minister on the Ukraine conflict and shared opinions on it.

He conveyed his adherence to using dialogue and diplomacy to settle the dispute peacefully. While promoting a peaceful and negotiated resolution by international law.

He also highlighted the significance of maintaining Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Furthermore, with an emphasis on cooperation between the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the BRICS alliance.

The ministers discussed their respective perspectives on important regional and global issues. They stressed the importance of multilateral structures in resolving shared issues and fostering regional stability.
