MFA China on SCO

Beijing: 12 July 2021 (TDI)-  The Foreign Minister of China will have an exchange of views with fellow SCO member states on major international and regional issues and SCO cooperation in various fields under the ongoing circumstances to make political preparations for an SCO summit this year, says Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson.

Mr. Wang Yi, the Foreign Minister of China is currently on an official tour to Central Asia starting from Monday. In a regular press conference that took place recently, the Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson, Mr. Wang Wenbin was asked about the main items on the agenda of the SCO foreign ministers’ meeting, the SCO-Afghanistan Contact Group foreign ministers’ meeting, and about the expectations of China for the meetings.

Mr. Wang Wenbin, in response to the question, shared that the FM will exchange views on major international and regional issues and SCO cooperation in various fields to make political preparations for an SCO summit this year as it marks the 20th anniversary of the founding of the SCO.

The spokesperson added the SCO has set a successful example of cooperation and development in compliance with the regional realities and the needs of all parties. It has become a major constructive force for regional security, stability, development, and prosperity. And its progress is a practical exploration of a new type of international relations and a community with a shared future for mankind.
