Meeting between Chinese foreign minister and US climate envoy

Beijing/Tianjin, 2 September 2021 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi and the climate envoy of the United States John Kerry discussed the progress of two states on climate change at a virtual meeting on Wednesday. Kerry was in Tianjin, China, at the time of the meeting, for the purpose of climate talks with the special climate envoy of China Xie Zhenhua.
While discussing the challenge of climate change, Wang pointed out the bilateral ties of two states and warned that the low-level relations of two states could slow down the development of climate change. The Chinese side urged the US to promote diplomatic relations between the two states.
Kerry expressed the commitment of his country in global collaboration for progress on climate change. He encouraged China to cooperate with the US for reducing carbon emissions.
