Pakistani Ambassador confirms Sino-Pak cooperation on Afghan issue

Beijing, 2 September 2021 (TDI): The Pakistani Ambassador to China, Moin ul Haque, talked about the Afghanistan issue in an interview with a Chinese newspaper, on Tuesday. He said that due to the political changes in Afghanistan, Pakistan is facing challenges of the uprising of terrorism. For that Islamabad has been actively taking measures, such as intelligence-based operations and border patrol, to prevent terrorism. 

Moin highlighted that both states stand for the rights of the people, demand terrorism’s cut off, want political unity, and a stable government in the territory of Afghanistan. Hence, China and Pakistan are on the same page regarding the Afghan issue and will strengthen this coordination. 

The Pakistani diplomat also praised China’s role as a global power, not only in recent political development but also in the global pandemic. Further, he ensured the cooperation of Pakistan with the international community on the situation in Afghanistan including the anti-terrorism fight, and the safety of their staff and institution in Kabul.

The Ambassador also said that Pakistan’s Embassy in Kabul is working for peaceful settlement of the issue and evacuation of foreigners from there, despite the instability and threat. He noted that there is a need for close cooperation amid the changes in the neighboring country, and said that Beijing and Islamabad are working actively for regional peace and stability and convinced the regional states and international community to do the same.
