Meeting between Amb. Gang and Wendy Sherman


Washington, 13 August 2021 (TDI): On Thursday, the US Deputy Secretary of State, Wendy R. Sherman, and the Chinese Ambassador to the US, Qin Gang, held a meeting. It was the first meeting between high diplomats of two sides since Qin was elected as the ambassador to the US.

The meeting was a closed-door meeting, allowing no one to interfere even the press. As per the reports, Wendy Sherman welcomed Qi as the new ambassador to America and mentioned that the US state department will do everything to support Qi in his duties as the ambassador.

Amb. Gang also thanked Wendy and the US state department for the assistance and urged that both sides should resume the conversation, as a follow-up to the telephonic call between the leaders of the two states on the occasion of Chinese New year.

Reports said that the meeting continued for hours. It was a constructive meeting that covered a wide array of topics. Both sides agreed that relations between China and the US are crucial and agreed that disputes can be resolved by negotiations.
