Islamabad, 24 November 2022 (TDI): First Lady Samina Alvi urged the need to make coordinated efforts for forming support groups to aid cancer victims.

She was speaking at the Breast Cancer Awareness launching ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr in collaboration with Maroof-International Hospital.

While the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Maroof International Hospital, Haroon Naseer, praised the First Lady’s efforts and expressed his gratitude for her work in promoting breast cancer awareness.

He said that because there aren’t any support groups in Pakistan, Maroof International Hospital has started a support group programme to help cancer patients and their families.

He added that patients would have sessions with a team of doctors, psychologists, cancer survivors, and volunteers to help them deal with physical, emotional, and psychological trauma before, during, and after the recovery period.

“We are delighted in being involved as one of the stakeholders of the Breast Cancer awareness launching event. It is a privilege for us to contribute to such mandatory awareness session.”

Haroon Naseer further shared that in order to educate women and give them more control over their healthcare decisions, Maroof International regularly holds breast cancer awareness sessions.

These sessions are held at educational institutions, corporate offices, foreign missions, and a variety of other organizations. These sessions are organized by Maroof International and their foreign-trained oncologists, pathologists, and general surgeons.

Moreover, Maroof International is excited to work with academic institutions, the general public, and corporate partners to advance healthcare, he continued.

“We can definitely eradicate Breast Cancer if we could control the polio virus in Pakistan,” the CEO of Maroof International Hospital reiterated.

It is pertinent to note that men and women of all ages were given 50% off mammogram coupons by Maroof International Hospital’s kiosk, which was valid from October 1, 2022, to December 31, 2022.
