Maldivian State Minister meets Japanese Ambassador

Male, 5 October 2021 (TDI): State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Ahmed Khaleel, and Japanese Ambassador to the Maldives, Keiko Yanai signed the Exchange of Notes at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maldives.

Japan provided grant aid of 400 million Japanese Yen to the Maldives for the provision of Sea Ambulance. The grant aid will help to reinforce health facilities’ capacitance in the country. Moreover, it will facilitate a sea ambulance equipped with medical systems and fully trained staff. State Minister Khaleel emphasized the demand for sea ambulances due to the incumbent global pandemic situation and struggle of the health sector. He further states that the assistance provided by Japan is a need of time and will ensure fast service for emergencies.

The Minister thanked the Government of Japan and the Ambassador for the aid. He stated it as another goodwill and generous gesture by Japan to the Maldives. Senior officials of the Foreign Ministry, Health Ministry, and Japan Embassy attended the ceremony.
