Male, 1 October 2021 (TDI): Foreign Minister of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid sent felicitations to the government and people of Palau on its Independence Day.
Abdulla Shahid sent his congratulatory remarks to the Foreign Minister of Palau, Gustav Aitaro. On this happy occasion, the message from the Maldivian Foreign Minister is full of positivity and hope for a better tomorrow. He expressed his hope to enhance bilateral relations. He added that the two states need to diversify cooperation in various fields. Moreover, Abdulla Shahid mentioned that Maldives and Palau should work together on climate change as well.
Palau declared independence from the United States on October 1, 1994. It is a sovereign country with its own foreign policy. It had established diplomatic relations with approximately 80 sovereign countries, including the Maldives.
