Bishkek, 5 June 2023 (TDI): On June 5, a meeting took place between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jeenbek Kulubaev, and the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Helga Maria Schmid, during her visit to Kyrgyzstan.
The primary focus of the meeting was to discuss the cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the OSCE in three key security dimensions: military-political, economic-environmental, and human.
Both parties expressed satisfaction with the current level of cooperation and acknowledged the positive outcomes achieved thus far. Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev expressed his gratitude to the OSCE for its support in promoting democratic processes and strengthening the stability and security of the country.
The relevance of ongoing OSCE projects in various priority areas for Kyrgyzstan was highlighted during the meeting. These projects encompass combating corruption and organized crime, promoting digitalization and good governance, implementing judicial and law enforcement reforms, and fostering economic development, environmental protection, and climate initiatives.
Minister Kulubaev emphasized the significance of these projects for the country’s progress and development. The commitment to cooperation and collaboration between Kyrgyzstan and the OSCE was reaffirmed during the meeting.

The OSCE Secretary General, Helga Maria Schmid, commended the high level of interaction between Kyrgyzstan and the OSCE. She assured Minister Kulubaev of the organization’s continued support in these areas of mutual interest.
In addition to bilateral matters, the regional agenda was also addressed during the discussions. The integration processes in Central Asia were a focal point, as well as the security challenges and threats faced by the states in the region.
The meeting between Minister Kulubaev and Secretary General Schmid showcased the strong partnership between Kyrgyzstan and the OSCE. The dialogue encompassed various issues, demonstrating the shared commitment to addressing common challenges and promoting the region’s peace, security, and development.
The potential utilization of available OSCE tools and mechanisms to address these challenges was explored, highlighting the organization’s role in promoting regional security and stability. The discussions further solidified the ongoing cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the OSCE and provided a platform for exploring future collaborative opportunities.
