Saudi Arabia welcomes GCC member states ahead of 153 session

Riyadh, 7 September 2022 (TDI): Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Waleed El Khereiji, received Foreign Ministers from Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain ahead of the 153rd Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) meeting of Foreign Ministers at the King Khalid International Airport.

The Ministers traveled to Riyadh to participate in the 153rd session of the GCC’s ministerial council and for a meeting between the GCC and several central Asian countries.

The Gulf Cooperation Council is a political and economic union between Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, concluded on May 1981 in Riyadh.

The Joint Ministerial meeting aims to initiate the strategic dialogue between the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and the Central Asian countries.

The Council aims to discuss coordination, integration, and interconnection between the Member States in all fields, including Economic affairs, commerce, education, and culture, for the good of their peoples.

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Waleed El Khereiji welcomed the Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani upon his arrival at the capital city of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

He has also received the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Al-Thani.

Moreover, Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait was also welcomed at the King Khalid International Airport.

In addition, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman Sayyid Badr Albusaidi traveled to Riyadh to participate in the 153rd session of the GCC.

The Ministerial council will meet on Wednesday at the GCC headquarters in Riyadh. The session will be chaired by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan.

The Ministers at the session will discuss issues like the joint counterterrorism efforts, the Palestinian cause, the Iranian occupation of United Arab Emirates islands, and the war in Yemen.
