Riyadh, 9 February 2022 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Faisal bin Farhan received the United Nations (UN) Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen, David Gressly.
As of 2021, the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has appointed David Gressly of the United States as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Yemen. Gressly also serves as the Humanitarian Coordinator.
During the meeting, the two officials reviewed the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to restore stability in Yemen. In addition to those of the United Nations at the regional and international levels to reach a comprehensive political solution to the crisis in Yemen. Nonetheless, this includes the Kingdom’s initiative in this regard.
Saudi Arabia has been actively working to reinstate peace and stability in the conflict affected Yemen. The country has been undergoing a severe crisis because of the insurgency perpetrated by the Houthi Militia.
What’s more, the insurgents periodically target and attack the countries adjacent to Yemen. KSA is a frequent target of the Houthis as is evident from many attacks aimed at the KSA by the insurgents.
