Islamabad, 15 November 2021 (TDI): Korea-Pakistan Infrastructure Business Forum was held in Islamabad. The Ambassador of South Korea to Pakistan, Suh Sangpyo hosted the event. The forum was organized at the Korean embassy in Islamabad.
The Korean Ambassador stated that Pakistan and Korea have strong business ties. The investment by Korean companies in Pakistan has had a positive impact on bilateral cooperation. Joint ventures like Kia and Hyundai as well as Samsung; are some of the trade initiatives between the two countries.
Whilst addressing the forum he highlighted that the two trade partners are also collaborating in the hydropower sector. Two plants are already running and producing electricity in Pakistan. Whereas four projects, constituting $3 billion, are underway in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Suh Sangpyo enunciated that infrastructure investment between the two allies signifies long-lasting bilateral economic cooperation. Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) is one such venture that has further strengthened the ties. EDCF has contributed to high-tech IT centers, road construction, and other significant ventures in Karachi and Islamabad.
The Forum was attended by the State Government Personnel of Pakistan; the Head of Energy Development, Secretary-General of the Civil Power Infrastructure Committee, the Head of the Energy Development and Energy Development, and the Minister of Tourism.
Aside from them, companies related to infrastructures in Pakistan and Korea like Lotte Construction, South-East Development, and Water Resources Corporation also attended the event.
